Program:  PICNIC!

Bring plants for "show and tell " - if you like

Meeting:

This month’s meeting is the picnic.  Sue Grabber has agreed to be the host.  Here are the directions and a couple of requests from Sue:

The address is 25722 36th St. Gobles, MI (616-628-5554).  From Kalamazoo: Take West Main (M-43) west to the intersection of M-40 and M43.  Turn north (right) on M-40 to 28th St. (First street after the Shagnasti restaurant) Turn left on 28th to the first road to the right, which is 36th.  We're about a mile down the road on the left hand side.  From 1-94 - take the Paw Paw exit - go north to the inter-section of M40 & M43.  Follow above from there.

People should bring lawn chairs, a dish to pass, and something to drink if they don't want coffee or lemonade.

She would really appreciate RSVP calls so she can judge how much meat to buy, or if someone knows about how many usually attend the picnic - if they'd let her know.

Minutes:

Mr. Tom Smith, a plant specialist from Michigan State University made a presentation on plant rescue/recovery.  There was additional information that I will try to scan and publish on the web site.  If you want to contact Tom, he can be reached at grassroots@voyater.net

Larry Galdes received two AOS awards at the Michiana show.  The first was Phal. Venetian Festival ‘Livo”, CCM, 83 points.  The other was Epl. Seagulls Macaw that he was awarded HCC with 78 points.  He gave it a clonal name of ‘Kristina’.  The club was awarded a 2nd place prize for the display at the Michiana show.

We still need additional commitments for the “semi-hydro” pots that John Talpa uses to justify a case.  If you are interested please contact John by phone or at the meeting.  His phone number is listed below.

The following site has ratings of growers and sellers.  It could prove to be useful.  However, I would be cautious about perfect ratings, extremely low ratings and those ratings where only one rating was submitted.
